Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 initial chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
